2022 Annual Report of the Secretary-General on Women, Peace and Security

Against a backdrop of increasing violent conflicts and reversal of generational gains in women’s rights, the women, peace and security agenda is farther from achieving its goals than ever before, as the latest UN Secretary-General report shows. The report points out that the sharp deterioration in peace and security globally is causing immense suffering and has a significant and specific impact on women and girls in conflict-affected countries.

Framework for the Prevention of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence

Developed through consultations with UN Action member entities, the Framework is a multi-stakeholder “road map” to guide the development and support of structural and operational CRSV prevention measures for international actors, including governments, UN agencies and civil society organisations. The Framework outlines critical considerations for the prevention of CRSV in a clear, comprehensive way, in order to advise the development and support of structural and operational matters, outlining two main aspects: i) preventing occurrence of CRSV, and ii) preventing further harm once violence has occurred. The Framework can be implemented at the regional, national and local levels, adapted to each context, to improve and expand programmatic efforts in CRSV prevention.

Prevention of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence Framework: Preview

On the 2022 commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, SRSG-SVC, Ms. Pramila Patten, launched a preview of the "Prevention of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence in Conflict Framework". The Framework will serve as a tool for governments, civil society and the UN system to strategically prevent CRSV from occurring and will be launched in August 2022.
